I’m Vice President of Corporate Development for PURE Property Management. That’s a big title for me. I’d like to just be known as the friendliest and most passionate cheerleader for our industry.
Prior to joining PURE, I was the Executive Vice President at Park Avenue Properties But wait.. before that, I worked as a dental hygienist and owned a bakery in Florida. My life path was different. I was the first person in my family to go to and graduate college. Since then, I’ve enjoyed more personal and professional accomplishments and professional growth than I could have ever imagined.
More recently, I’m thrilled to become the 2022 Northwest Regional Vice President with the National Association of Residential Property Managers - NARPM for short. Who knew this dental hygienist who loves to smile, laugh, and have a great time would land on a path in property management. And when PURE came around, wow. I found my calling.
Connecting people is my passion. But connecting people with life-changing opportunities is just beyond amazing. I can’t believe I get paid to make people happy, wealthy, and challenged with opportunity. It’s literally the perfect job for me.
I’m originally from Buffalo, New York. I started as a dental hygienist straight out of college. I did the dental thing for a while and then landed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2007. At some point, I decided I didn’t want to be in the dental field anymore and went ahead, like many, and got my real estate license. This is not a unique story by any means.
I responded to a 3x3 ad in the free community publication. The company was looking for new agents, and I assumed I’d be a broker at a firm. Lo and behold, they asked if I wanted to do property management. I decided to go for it, and 14 years later, here I am, with no regrets and much, much wiser for it. What an amazing industry and yet so, so many opportunities to make it better. I wake up every day knowing that we can bring so much more joy to the world if we can only get bigger and better. That’s my day. Bigger is better and the more the merrier.
The property management industry has always been a sleepy little industry, floating under the radar for most people. The problem with that is that it’s fragmented, pieced together into a lot of disjointed parts that aren’t actually helping anyone all that much. It desperately needs consolidation, scale, and technology.
I love property management, and especially in the role I am in I know I can bring so much more joy to the world by being the conduit between amazing operators and the opportunity to create something better for everyone involved.
When it comes down to it, I decided to join PURE because I felt a sense of belonging to this rockstar team. PURE provides the conduit for me to be a part of massive change in an industry that desperately needs it.
I met Michael Catalano about five years ago at a NARPM industry conference. He was on a panel, so I was able to say hello. We learned that we had a lot of mutual friends and really hit it off. Mike is awesome to work with because he’s an incredibly motivated individual. He takes that motivation a step further by infusing integrity into everything he does, so he’s driven to create a better world in this industry.
Of course, Mike is only one person on this amazing team. It’s been exciting to know and collaborate with operational geniuses like Jennifer Newton — if you ever have an operational issue, she’s got your back. She’s incredibly smart. And there are people like Eric Wetherington, Brian Jenkins, and Jock McNeill, who I work with more closely. Jock’s the most easy-going, relatable guy who blows me away with his communication skills. It’s probably why he is VP of Partner Relations. All of these people create this work culture of collaboration, intelligence, integrity, and drive — it’s inspiring.
I decided to join PURE because it was immediately clear that this company would be a game-changer in the industry. I want to work with people committed to leaving it better than they found it, and I found that with the team here at PURE. It’s exciting to see a group of people so passionate about an industry, watching them band together and create something extraordinary.
Being a part of PURE feels like being a part of something bigger than just business because it is. I have worked with these people for many years as industry colleagues, so it feels like a networking group within the same organization.
I love that collaboration is at the forefront of PURE. We’re constantly sharing ideas. PURE embodies the idea of banding together, creating together, and succeeding together. We’re genuinely in this together, with each one of us invested in PURE’s mission and success. Because if PURE succeeds, there will be many happy people out there, both on the portfolio and property management side and the renter’s side.
Honesty is at the core of how I like to operate, and that alignment with PURE feels so refreshing. The business world can be cutthroat, with a lack of integrity and honesty at every turn. PURE isn’t like that. We’ve got over 1,000 years of experience amongst us already. The synergy, the energy, the drive. It’s infectious. I love being an integral part of bringing more joy to the world by connecting people together.
